CBD & Anxiety and how it can help.
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. Fear, stress and anxiety are all normal feelings and are often healthy emotions to feel, however, when an individual begins feeling increased levels of anxiety, fear or worry on a regular basis, it might become a medical disorder. With an anxiety related disorder, the feelings of anxiety or worry do not go away and may get worse over time.
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, anxiety disorders affect more than 264 million people worldwide.
Traditional Treatments for Anxiety:

How CBD works for treating anxiety
CBD can be used to treat a variety of different levels of anxiety including everyday worries, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and social anxiety disorder (SAD).
In 2016, a study was conducted to investigate the effects of CBD on the 5-HT1A receptors and it was found that CBD enhances both serotonergic and glutamate cortical signaling through a 5-HT1A receptor-dependent mechanism. This is important because 5-HT1A is a type of serotonin receptor and both anxiety and depression can be treated with medications that target the serotonin system, making CBD a viable option for treatment.
In 2010, another study found that CBD reduces anxiety in people with SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) by utilizing the effects it has on activity in the limbic and paralimbic brain areas. Brain scans were conducted on participants and it was found that CBD changes the blood flow to the areas of the brain that are linked to feelings of anxiety. CBD not only made participants feel better, but it also changed the way their brains responded to anxiety.
Although research is still being conducted on the benefits of CBD and treating anxiety, most recent studies have found that CBD has anxiolytic effects and is a useful tool in reducing anxiety.
